Are you a young black father living in Hartford? Would you like to build on your parenting and life skills? Klingberg Family Centers, a local leader in serving children’s mental health and building strong families, is offering a new fatherhood support group parent, grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive principles. Group meetings are held at Klingberg Family Centers’ Hartford office, located at 157 Charter Oak Avenue.
Level Up Dads is a 13-week program designed to strengthen young fathers parenting skills and provide a comprehensive mentorship platform that supports a wide variety of personal growth, including:
- Processing trauma and breaking the patterns of generational trauma
- Prioritizing a child’s perspective in conflict
- Understanding how financial stress impacts decision-making and learning what community resources are available to provide additional support
- Training on using AI to build a resume
Participants will receive Level Up Dads gear, including a t-shirt, hat, notebook and backpack. Each session includes dinner for participants, and bus passes are available if needed.
The program ends with a Graduation Celebration, and offers continuing opportunity for mentorship.
Level Up Dads is funded with a generous grant through the Greater Hartford Gives foundation.
