Klingberg Children’s Home. is a 128-page historical book published by Arcadia Publishing as part of their Images of America series. It documents the history of the New Britain orphanage founded by Rev. John Eric Klingberg, featuring archival photographs of the children in their everyday life.
The book details the incredible history of how Rev. Klingberg, a Swedish pastor, established the orphanage in 1903 after finding three abandoned boys. From 1903 to 1970, it was a home for over 2,000 abandoned or needy children.
It is authored by Mark H. Johnson, M.A., Vice President Emeritus at Klingberg Family Centers, whose own grandparents worked at the home in the 1920s. All royalties from the book are donated directly to the Klingberg Family Centers.
