Acute Residential Care

Acute Residential Program

A psychiatric hospital isn’t always the best solution. Klingberg Family Centers’ Acute Residential Program provides another option for children who need intensive treatment.

The people we serve:

  • Children aged 6-12 who otherwise would be placed in a psychiatric hospital.
  • Children who are ready for discharge from such a hospital, but not ready to live in a home or community setting.

How the program works:

  • Klingberg Family Centers participates with major insurance plans.
  • Alternatively, children placed through the Connecticut Department of Children and Families receive state-funded care.
  • The program offers individual, group, and family treatment.
  • Psychiatric evaluation and treatment, along with medication management, is available from our trained and certified clinicians.
  • A spiritual life program is available.
